Just like in every school, recess was greatly appreciated by students. Some were in the hallway chatting with friends from other classes or just wanted to get out of the cramped, and usually overheated, classroom, some were in the bathroom doing whatever a person does there, and, yes, that includes smoking behind closed doors, others chose to stay in the classroom for various reasons – laziness, wanting to get a few more winks of sleep, pinching a few bites from one's bento before lunch because they were hungry and the list could go on.
Nao, Hiroto and Akiya were gathered at Shou's desk and, as usual, they were teasing Shou about him tutoring Tora. They actually believed he was doing only that but it was fun seeing him blush, stutter and lose his calm.
"Hi, Nao."
They all looked at the person who put his hand on Nao's shoulder and went wide eyed when they saw who it was.
"Hi, Shou." the blonde smiled and nodded at Shou.
"Uh... hi, Saga."
Saga pulled out a notebook and presented it to Nao, still smiling. "Thanks for letting me read these older poems you wrote. I liked them a lot. When you write more I would love to read those too."
Nao took the notebook and blushed at Saga's compliment. No one beside Hiroto, Akiya and Shou knew that Nao liked writing poems and they were all taken by surprise when they heard Saga. The blonde senior left their classroom and all eyes turned to the blushing Nao. He blushed a deeper shade of red when he realized the torture his friends would put him through.
"So, Shou isn't the only one going for the rebels, eh?" Hiroto laughed, which earned him a notebook swat from Shou.
"When did you two become friends, Nao?" Akiya asked as he put his arm around Nao's shoulders, wiggling his eyebrows in an insinuating way.
Shou was still too surprised to say anything. He thought about joining Hiroto and Akiya in teasing poor Nao but seeing how deeply he was blushing, Shou thought that if he said anything to embarrass his poor friend more, he would probably red-out from so much blood rushing to his head.
"Last week he was bugging me and managed to swipe my poetry notebook. He read them and said he liked them. I was skeptical at first but we talked and started to get along."
"And you decided to share with him your deepest secret." Akiya stated.
"Nao, you told him you're a virgin?!"
All eyes turned to Hiroto and for once, Shou burst out laughing like there was no tomorrow. Akiya collapsed over Shou's desk from laughing so hard and the rest of the students who were in the classroom joined in the tear-inducing, stomach-aching laughing fit. Hiroto and Nao were the only ones not joining in.

The gym was filled with the sound of screeching sneakers, cheerleaders practicing, coaches yelling, whistling and giving instructions. With sports day only two weeks away, every team, be it soccer, basketball or handball, was practicing even harder than they were practicing one month prior. It was the soccer team's turn to use the gym and they were taking great advantage of it.
"Tora, Reita! Couple as attackers!" the coach yelled over the sounds that filled the gym and the two nominated players nodded and moved to the positions they were assigned.
"Hey, coach! Sorry I'm late."
"Go and get changed, Hiroto." the coach instructed the shorter student. He then whistled and motioned for the players to come to the benches. "Hiroto's here. Do we have enough players for two teams now?"
"We would still need about two more." said one of the team members.
"Hold on, coach."
Tora made his way to the stands where Shou was sitting. He had come with Hiroto after the shorter student begged him with his infamous pout. Who said someone who already had an irresistible pout could resist another?
"Hey, Shou. We need some more people so he can have a skirmish. Feel like filling in?"
Shou blinked at him a few times and stared passively. If you were looking at them from the sidelines you would think it was a still picture.
"You do know I completely suck at soccer, right?" Tora nodded. "You do know I don't particularly like soccer, right?" Tora nodded again. "Yet you still ask me if I want to play?" Another nod accompanied by a hopeful smile and Shou sighed. "Okay, I'll play."
"Great!" Tora beamed. "Go to the locker room and tell Hiroto to give you one of the spare outfits."
Uruha who was sitting on the other side of the stands, started glaring from the moment he saw Tora walk to Shou and his glare grew fiercer with every second they talked. His glare reached its peak when he saw Shou head off to the locker room and later come out with Hiroto, fully dressed for playing soccer. He got up and, putting on his most innocent face, went to the rest of the team.
"You guys still someone else to play?"
"You know where the locker room is. There's a pile of spare outfits on the table inside. Get one and hurry out here. We don't have all day." The coach's voice got gradually louder, clearly meaning 'What are you still doing here?! I want you ready yesterday!'.
As he passed Shou, Uruha sent him a look that stated without any doubt that he would make Shou never want to play soccer again.

Nao was walking home from school, in his mind formulating a rough sketch of what would become another poem. He didn't know where all his inspiration came from – it just hit him without notice. He started coughing and when his mind came back to Earth he saw why. A motorcycle stopped a few feet in front of him, stirring up the dust and leaving a little trace of smoke behind it.
"Need a ride?"
When the person on the motorcycle removed his helmet, Nao smiled. Saga patted the seat behind him and motioned with his head for Nao to take his offer.
"Is it supposed to let out that trail of smoke?" Nao asked not out of concern but more to make some conversation. He was walking toward the motorcycle so it was highly improbable he would change his mind.
"It's actually dying. I think this is going to be its last drive. Let's hope it'll get you home before it gives its last breath." On second thought, maybe there was something that would change Nao's mind. Saga laughed at how Nao's face went white as a sheet of paper. "Come on, I was joking."
Nao lightly hit Saga's arm and accepted the helmet the blonde gave him. He got on the motorcycle behind Saga and after wrapping his arms around the other's waist to have some leverage, they were off.

Uruha saw his chance. Once the ball was in his possession, he dribbled his way to the other team's goalpost with all his irritation flaring. Reita and Tora were the captains of the two teams and somehow, he had ended up on Reita's team while Shou ended up on Tora's. That added to his earlier frustration and it was the last straw. Shou was half back and Uruha was sprinting towards him.
Shou had no idea what Uruha's intention was; he thought the dirty blonde was only getting into the hype of the game so he decided to actually do something and not just stay in defense until it was too late. He ran forward to try and get the ball away from Uruha but the blonde was more skilled and he dribbled him. As Uruha passed him, he made sure to send Shou an elbow to the ribs he wanted for a long time to deliver.
Shou heard the coach whistle a goal and, holding his aching ribs, he looked at Uruha and saw the smug look on the blonde's face.
"Hey, you okay?"
Shou nodded to Tora and Hiroto who immediately came to his side after seeing him holding his ribs in response to his and Uruha's contact.
Uruha glared at Shou from behind and he bumped his shoulder hard into Shou's when he passed him. Shou was surprised by Uruha's sudden violent behavior, especially after hearing the dirty blonde promise Tora he would try to control himself. He glared at Uruha when he saw him pinch Tora's butt and decided that if Uruha wanted to play rough, Shou could play just as rough.
The next time Uruha was able to come full force to the goalpost defended by Shou, the brown haired player was ready. He sprinted forward and when they were a few feet away from each other, Shou did a slide, managing to get the ball away from Uruha as well as swiping the blonde's feet from under him, sending him to the floor.
The cheerleaders that took a break from practice to see the teams play were going wild. Some of them stopped cheering when Uruha got up and glared daggers at Shou which were returned by the brown haired student full force. The air was heavy with tension as they glared at each other but it was lightened when Tora came up to them.
"Come on, you two. It's just a game. Don't get so worked up over it."
After one last look they parted and the game continued for another 30 minutes.
"Okay, guys, good job today. I'm proud. Shou, you know when the basketball team has practice, right?" the coach said after he whistled the end of the team's practice.
"Yeah, I know." Shou replied.
"Okay, you infidels, hit the showers!"
The juniors, who had become a part of the school soccer team that year, looked weirdly at their coach while the ones who were used to his unique way of speaking chuckled. Shou was one to raise an eyebrow but he was reassured by Tora that it was the routine for their coach.
"Let's go, you two." said Tora as he put his arms around Uruha's and Shou's shoulders, leading them to the locker room. "Homework and tutoring is waiting at home."
"Wait, where's Hiroto?" Shou stopped and turned around, seeing Hiroto talking to the coach about something. "Tora, go ahead. I'll catch up."
After they got changed, Hiroto said his goodbye and went one way. Tora and Uruha kissed – Uruha was reluctant to let go – and the blonde went another way. Tora then turned to Shou and, putting his arm around his friend's shoulders, they went home their own way.
"Come on, infidel. You need to torture me some more for that level assessment exam this week."
