The school grounds after school were incredibly peaceful – no chattering students, no giggling girls, no motorcycles roaring to and fro, just the rustle of leaves, chirping of birds and the sound of the autumn breeze.

Nao liked this atmosphere a lot and it drew him every day to stay one or two hours more just sitting on a bench enjoying the silence or scribbling something or other. Inspiration always came to him while he was there.

"Hey."

Nao raised his head from his notebook and looked at the person who had joined him. Everybody was supposed to have left fifteen minutes ago so he was curious as to who had remained. When he saw Saga he brought his eyes back to the notebook in his lap without saying a word or sketching the slightest gesture.

"Don't be like that."

Nao moved away from Saga as the blonde sat down beside him, causing a laugh out of the slightly taller student.

"Come on, I won't bite."

Nao still said nothing and kept his eyes glued to his notebook. Saga pursed his lips and with a fast flick of his hand, grabbed Nao's notebook and started reading what the other was writing in it.

"Hey! Give that back!"

Nao wasn't fast enough to grab his notebook back. Saga turned with his back to Nao and when the shorter senior leaned over him and stretched his arms out, Saga kept it at a safe distance from Nao's hands but at a distance from which he could see what was written.

"I didn't know you write poetry."

"Did you ever take any interest? Now give that back!"

Saga started chuckling. Nao's efforts were adorable and he knew the shorter student was blushing at having his poetry read. Saga decided to not torture him anymore and gave Nao the notebook back. He regretted doing that because of the warmth loss on his back from where Nao was pressed up against him.

He looked at Nao and had to suppress the urge to hug him and pinch his cheeks. The brown haired senior had his legs pulled up on the bench, sandwiching the notebook between them and his chest. To top it all off, he was pouting and had his cheeks puffed out. He was the perfect image of innocence and adorableness.

"Those are quite good, you know?"

Nao didn't say anything and Saga sighed. He didn't want to be avoided by people because he hung out with Uruha and the infamous trouble maker group. He envied the friendship Shou and Tora had. They went two completely different ways and yet they still were the best of friends.

"I'm sorry about Aoi calling you names..."

"Don't make excuses for them. As if you cared anyway."

Saga sighed in irritation. Not that he didn't blame Nao for not wanting to talk to him. After all, what did he ever do for the brown haired senior except remember his face from elementary school?

"Look, I..."

"Do you really think they're good?" Saga blinked and looked at Nao in confusion. "You're not going to start making fun of me that I believed you and that you actually think they suck, are you?"

Saga blinked again and once more suppressed the urge to squish the shorter senior in a bear hug. He was normally very cute but when he blushed he could be categorized as illegally cute.

"I may not look it but I enjoy poetry. And yours are really good. I would like to read what else you've written."

Nao smiled shyly at Saga and he brought his eyes back to the notebook which he had taken out of its hiding place and handed it to Saga.

Shou was silently laughing to himself. He was sitting in his chair with his feet propped on the desk, reading "How to be Idle". He never thought a book could be so full of truth and expose said truth in such an ironic way. He noted to himself to add Tom Hodgkinson to his list of favorite authors.

He nearly fell out of his chair when something hit his window. What were people using these days to throw at windows? Cows? Weren't pebbles enough? He got up, kneeled on his bed and opened the window.

"Think fast!"

Shou let out a very undignified scream when a big black blob jumped at him. Next thing he knew was that he was sprawled out on his bed sideways, clutching the black blob to his chest and his heart sounded like Hayashi Yoshiki drumming away in a live.

"Tarzan's coming, Chita! Look out!"

Shou's eyes widened at the battle cry-like yell and covered his face with the blob he was holding against his chest. The bed dipped violently, making Shou bounce a few times. He was still holding onto his makeshift shield but it was pulled away from his vice grip by the person who had just jumped through his window.

"Now wasn't that fun?"

What did the brunette find so fun about making Shou have a heart attack? He opened his eyes and looked up at Tora's smiling face. How they managed to go on two so very different ways was something Shou couldn't put his finger on. They had been practically inseparable when they were young and Shou wanted those times back.

"You really look like a monkey when you stare like that."

Shou was brought back to the moment at hand by Tora grabbing his nose and squeezing.

"Welcome to the jungle then, Tarzan." Shou awkwardly got off the bed, careful not to kick Tora and not to do a back flip over the edge which would have resulted in him fracturing his neck in the best circumstance.

"Hold this for me while I settle in."

The black blob of doom landed on Shou's back after Tora threw it at him and the brown haired student concluded it was his friend's back pack. Turning around to give Tora a tongue lashing about throwing things at him, Shou's eyes bugged out.

"What are you doing with your shoes on my bed?! Take them off now!"

"Take them off? Shou, I didn't know you wanted me so much."

Tora smirked as he got up and approached Shou. When he was too close for comfort, Shou pushed the back pack in Tora's arms and, blushing, frowned at the brunette.

"Keep your perverseness to yourself, ok? Now get your books and notebooks out. Let's get cracking."

Two hours later, Shou was lying on his bed continuing his book where he had left off and Tora was at the desk, wrapping up the last exercises Shou had given him. Or at least he was trying to.

"You really enjoy torturing me, don't you?"

Shou brought his attention to the desk and chuckled when he saw Tora tapping his pencil on the desk and frowning at the numbers in his notebook.

"Let's see what you have here."

Shou got up and went next to Tora, looking at how the brunette had resolved the exercises. They were all done quite well but he seemed to have hit a brick wall with the last one. Shou followed every calculation attentively until he found what was wrong.

"Here's the problem: you inversed the numbers."

Tora groaned loudly in discontent and wanted to bang his head against the desk. Shou put his arm around the brunette's shoulders so he wouldn't.

"Come on. It's just one last exercise. I'll help you with it. Give me that pencil."

What followed was Tora dictating and Shou writing, not that it was less of a strain on Tora. When it was over and done with, the brunette breathed in relief. He didn't expect Shou to still be close as he skimmed through the rest of the exercises, so when Tora got off the chair Shou lost his balance. The brunette caught him when he was at a 45° angle from the ground and Shou wrapped his flailing arms around his savior.

"Shit! That was scary!"

Tora laughed at the horrified look Shou had on his face. It was just too cute to resist staring at. After a few moments, his grin dropped into a slight smile. He hadn't noticed how entrancing his friend's big eyes could be and now that he found himself looking straight into them, he couldn't look away.

"You okay, damsel in distress?" Tora gently asked.

A split second later, Shou frowned and punched the brunette's shoulder. "Put me back on my feet, you profiteer."

"Is that how you thank the person who spared your cute bum from damage?" Tora laughed as he straightened Shou and made sure his feet were firmly planted on the floor.

Shou puckered his lips, raised an eyebrow, rolled his eyes and shook his head, causing Tora to laugh with more fervor and ruffle his hair. Shou swatted at the brunette's hand and pouted. Tora turned around to put his notebooks and books back in his back pack.

"I guess I'll see you tomorrow. Same hour as today?"

Shou nodded and Tora made his way to the window. It was the shortest way between their rooms and it caused Tora to be in top form. Why? Because between their houses was a tree and to pass from one room to the other you had to jump or swing from a branch.

"Watch it with the shoes!"

Before Shou could catch Tora and give him what he deserved for treating his bed like a door mat, Tora was out the window and into the tree. When he went through his own window he turned around and saluted Shou.
