Crossover – Amicitia Thesaurus Est – Chapter 1
Crossover – Amicitia Thesaurus Est – Chapter 1
Author: Sabina or Destiny or [info]destiny_1989
Rating: PG-13 (for now)
Summary: Best friends since the beginning. Every important event of one's life was shared with the other. Can this friendship last in time? Will the different paths the two best friends take affect it in any way?
Warnings: not much right now... drama coming up soon and sex later on
Pairings: ?xUruha (find out at the end of the chapter), more to be announced
Disclaimer: I would be bathing in money if I owned them. So no sue from you.
Pre Notes: This idea has been bugging me for a long time and I have to say I was a bit reluctant to give in and write/post it since there are a lot of AU/high school fics out there and people are probably sick of them. -_-;; *crosses fingers* I hope this story will turn out to be appealing.

"And so the Fanariote Reign lasted until 1821, while the Oriental Crisis lasted until the Ottoman Empire was abolished, in the 20th century."

The ringing of the bell signaled that class was over and sounds of happiness could be heard from every student's mouth. Don't get them wrong, more than half of them thought that history was interesting, just not the way this particular teacher presented it. Class 3-A's regular History teacher was abroad on some cultural exchange program and for the next two weeks they had to endure the extremely long and boring lectures of a substitute.

"If he wasn't Japanese, I would swear that Kanagawa-sensei was a communist. My hand is going to hurt for hours from writing so much!" complained one of the students after their teacher had left.

"Think of it as warm up for your tutoring homework, Akiya." A tall brown-haired student patted his shoulder, laughing lightly.

"Did you have to remind me?! You've ruined my whole day, Shou!" Akiya groaned and picked up his backpack, throwing it over his shoulder and left the classroom, Shou following with an amused smile on his face.

Another day of school was over and everyone could go home, to the freedom of their personal space. Seniors didn't really have the luxury of thinking about that because they had to keep their grades high in order to have a substantial chance at being admitted into a good university. The second term had started for a few days and every senior started getting his or her act together and started studying.

"Ahh, September depresses me. I want summer break back!" Akiya whined as the two students left the school building. It was the beginning of September and the influences of August were still visible: it was quite warm, day and night were almost just as long, trees were still green. He looked around the courtyard and saw juniors taking advantage of the warm weather as they sat on the various benches scattered about and soaked up the sun.

Akiya sighed gravely, wishing he was a junior again. Realizing Shou hadn't said anything about his previous statement, he turned his head and stopped when he saw the other student some good paces behind him, eyes darting everywhere.

"Shou, I saw him leaving with those friends of his last period."

"He said he'd wait. We talked yesterday." Shou replied, not stopping looking for a certain someone around the school grounds.

Akiya sighed and ran a hand through his hair. "I know you're good friends but when did he admit to resisting those guys? Especially if Uruha is one of them. You know how that guy is when he doesn't get his way."

"I guess you're right but I still want to wait a little while. Maybe he'll show up." Shou said as he turned his eyes to Akiya. "Don't worry, I'll wait fifteen minutes tops." he offered, smiling.

"Suit yourself." Akiya said, shrugging. "I would love to wait with you and keep you company but I have a date with my mistress a.k.a. English homework."

"I wish you a happily ever after, then." Shou laughed. He and Akiya said their goodbyes and went in their separate directions. Actually, only one of them went while the other stayed rooted to his spot, hoping he hadn't been dumped by his best friend.

It was the perfect weather for a soccer game. After about an hour, the eight players were lying down in the grass on the edge of the improvised field. It was a dusty rectangle with the grass pulled out. Whenever somebody came to play, and you could almost always see someone, they would make sure the chalk markings were clear. Two metal rods impaled on either end of the field served as goalposts.

"Aren't you glad I talked you into coming here right away?" One of the four blondes of the group got up in a sitting position, leaned over his brunette boyfriend and kissed him lazily.

"I'm feeling a little guilty. I promised Shou I'd wait for him."

The blonde's heart-shaped lips turned into a pout. "Come on, he wouldn't have wanted to play anyway."

"Are you a mind reader now, Uruha?" Another brunette laughed and threw a water bottle in the blonde's, Uruha's, direction.

"Oh, sod off, Aoi." he spat playfully. "And you," he turned back to his boyfriend who was still lying comfortably on his back "I'm starting to get nasty thoughts about Shou. You seem to care more about what he thinks than what I do. Is there something you need to tell me?"

He crossed his arms over his chest and mock-glared. The brunette laughed heartedly and got up in a sitting position, kissing Uruha deeply. When they pulled apart, he grinned at the dirty blonde's dreamy expression.

"Don't worry, babe. You're not getting rid of me that easily."

Nothing can compare to the blissful moment of finishing your homework, be it only a few exercises or a few essays. Shou leaned back in his chair, enjoying the moment of calm he knew would be gone when he would open his eyes. Sadly, if he kept them closed he risked falling asleep so the state of Nirvana he was in was short lived.

Turning his head to the right, he eyed the digital alarm clock on the night stand next to his bed – it showed 9 pm. Pretty good timing for his homework completion. He turned his eyes back to the ceiling and started thinking. Earlier, when he and Akiya had split, he had waited for an hour on the bench he was supposed to meet his friend but he never came.

Shou may have told Akiya he wouldn't wait more then fifteen minutes but he really hoped the brunette would show – wishful thinking never hurt anyone, right?

"I wonder if he's home now? I could always cause him to go into a guilt fest." Shou smiled wickedly but it disappeared from his face as he shook his head. They had been best friends for too long and as teasing was a very common thing between them, Shou didn't have the heart to make the brunette feel guilty. Call him a softy but that was how he was.

He yelped in surprise and nearly fell backwards with his chair when his cell phone started ringing. Scrambling to get to it and stop that annoying ringtone which he always forgot to change, he knocked over a few pencil holders, two paper weights, a text book and a note book.

"Hello?" he said a bit too loud and fast.

"Am I glad I'm not there in person or you might want to go serial killer on me." Shou recognized the voice on the other line and smiled. Hearing the laugh in the others voice made him change his mind about the guilt trip.

"Is there something you need?"

There was a pause on the line for about two seconds. "You're trying the guilt trip, right?" Shou had to keep himself from snorting into the receiver. "Well, I called to say that I'm sorry I left you waiting."

And this was where Shou's plan started. He roamed his eyes over the walls, admiring the way the shadows fell on them, making mental notes to clean certain stains and repair random holes, intentionally ignoring the person at the other end of the conversation.

"What are you thinking? Are you going to ask for a written apology?"

"Hm, that would be an idea. I can tell you to write 'I will never again let Shou wait for more than 30 minutes without letting him know I will not show up ' and then I can blackmail you with it."

"No need to do that. All you have to do is turn your puppy eyes to me and I'm doomed."

Shou laughed aloud and he could hear a soft laugh on the other end too. "Well, we all have to use what we've been blessed with to our advantage, right? So tell me, what was I stood up for, hm?"

"Um, I'm going to ask you a question and depending on your answer you can relieve my conscience or make me brood for the whole week." Shou didn't like the serious tone his friend had but he listened expectantly. "Do you like playing soccer?"

Shou raised an eyebrow and looked funny at his cell as if his friend could see his weirded out expression, then brought it back to his ear. "Um, I'm not a fan but if I have no choice I'll play. Why?"

A sigh and a nervous cough. "If I asked you to play, would you?"

"Okay, this apology session is officially too weird. You know I won't play soccer for anyone. What's the deal?"

A long sigh of relief was heard on the other line. "You just saved me a serious emo session. But I guess I still should have waited for you. Here's the thing: I wanted to ask you if you were in for playing a game of soccer with me and some of my friends after school but I got talked into not waiting. Sorry."

Shou's face turned serious and looked like a mix between a frown and a pout. "You know you're already flunking quite a number of classes, right? And this is the second term. You really need to think what's more important. We're seniors..."

"I know, Shou! What are you, my mother? I get enough telling-off from her. If you turn against me too I'm really going to turn emo."

"I'm just saying things as they are." Shou stated calmly. "I was going to talk to you about this today but now that we're on the phone I'll tell you." Shou got up from his chair, turned off the lamp on his desk, opened his window to see a dim light coming from his friend's room who lived next door, all the while talking on the phone. Talk about multitasking.

"If you want, I can tutor you. You've always told me how you can't stay focused in class because your teachers can't peak your interest and maybe I can get you stimulated enough to study. What do you say?" He laid down on his bed and looked at the ceiling, listening to his friend's breathing on the other end and expecting his answer.

"You're not going to ask a fee, are you?"

Shou burst out laughing and his fit lasted a few good minutes. He glanced out his window and saw a shadow pacing back and forth in his friend's room. Was he really considering the possibility that Shou would ask a fee? The brown haired teen had to stop himself from starting to laugh again because he already had his friend on hold for enough time.

"Sometimes you're too rich!" he said into the phone when he got a hold of his senses. "Why would you think I would ask a fee from you? We've known each other since we were in diapers; you'd think I had more of your trust." Shou tsk-ed into the receiver and received a "pfft" from the other end, which caused him to snort.

"Okay, stop with the onomatopoeias. So, if you're willing to give, I'm willing to receive."

Shou heard a snort and knew the other was trying hard not to laugh at how perverted his statement sounded. Intentional or not, Shou rolled his eyes and in a mock exasperated voice continued the conversation.

"If you can get your mind out of the gutter for a minute and listen: my eyes are really sore and I can barely keep my head on my shoulders. Wait for me tomorrow morning and we can talk about it more while we go to school. Is that okay?"

"Sure, that's fine. Okay, I'll see you tomorrow then. Goodnight, Shou."

"Goodnight, Tora."

Post Notes:
1. I had a substitute History teacher who gave us three pages worth of a lecture about the Oriental Crisis and the Fanariote Reign. You'd think he would stop once in a while to explain some things... Pfft! Yeah, right! X_x Talk about drawing inspiration from personal experiences.
2. Whoever doesn't know this: the Japanese school year starts on the 5th of April and ends on the 25th of March. It's split into three terms dotted about with vacations and a one-month-long summer break in august.

I will forever hate everything that has to do with the Oriental Crisis/Fanariote Reign/Ottoman empire just because of that substitute I had. And to think that's how the lectures in elementary school were. X_x

I'm glad you like it. ^___^

I totally agree. I need more of this pairing too but since not too many people are willing to write them I decided to take matters into my own hands. Actually, it's the third time I do that. XD

Thanks for reading and commenting.

Make you cry? I hope I won't. I don't like making people cry. Even when I'm being my mean, dream-destroying self I always manage to make them laugh.

And yes, they're just too cute together. I'm really sad/irritated that others don't see that. \/_\/
